Kayenta Krocs

Cover art for the upcoming special issue of The Anatomical Record on crocodilian anatomy.

In the first illustration, a massive Calsoyasuchus lunges out of a river in Jurassic Arizona to catch a nimble Kayentasuchus, startling a herbivorous protosuchian. The fossils of the Triassic archosaur Revueltosuchus litter the foreground.

In the second illustration, anatomical systems of each croc are shown, including muscular systems of the limbs and jaws, the respiratory system of Kayentasuchus, and the trigeminal nerve structure of the protosuchian.
